YOUR SHINY NEW NAILS
A few things to note...
Once you leave the salon, it is your responsibility to care for your nails in order to get the best from them. We have listed below some helpful tips to keep them in the best condition possible.

AFTERCARE
Jewels NOT Tools!
At The Glam Room, we believe that our clients and their individual needs come first. But in an industry flooded with new products and procedures, we must make sure that health and safety are never compromised. We therefore take a precautionary approach, always opting for safe and tested solutions. Our specialists will do their utmost to get to know their clients, and work with them towards finding the right treatment for every concern they might have.
Relative to your lifestyle and activity level, your nail extensions will need infilling every 2-3 weeks. If regular infills are not maintained, your extensions will grow out and become weaker. This is due to wear and tear and incorrect structure. The chance of breaking a nail then becomes much higher.
If you notice your extension lifting, do not pick or pull at the lifted area as this will cause lifting to increase and could damage your natural nail. Please contact us as soon as possible so you can visit The Glam Room for the nail to be repaired. If an extension is lifting or damaged and this is ignored, it could lead to a subsequent bacterial infection and leave your natural nail green and mouldy looking.
I recommend to all my clients to use a good quality cuticle oil at least once every day. This will help to keep your nails looking good and to nourish the natural nail underneath the extension. Please make sure the cuticle oil you use does not contain mineral oil or lanolin as these are the biggest causes of lifting extensions. Some shampoos and conditioners can contain these ingredients also so check the label carefully if you are concerned.
Please do not bite, pick at or file your extensions after they have been done as this will cause lifting and damage to your natural nail.
Do not pull backwards against the tips (extended part or free edge) of your nails as this could cause injury or breakage.
Do not use nail clippers or metal files on your enhancements as this can cause chipping, cracking or shattering of the nail which could lead to trauma and damage to your natural nail.
Avoid leaving your hands in water for long periods of time without gloves as this can cause nail lifting.
Please do not attempt to do any kind of home repair to lifted or broken nails. This means please don’t try to repair nail extensions yourself with glue, plasters or other such methods. Contact me and arrange for an appointment for me to repair the broken nail.
Do not attempt to shorten the length of your nail extensions between infill appointments. If your nails are getting too long and unmanageable, please book an appointment for them to be shortened.
Please wear gloves when doing the washing up, gardening or using household cleaning products as exposure to these can cause your nail extensions to become weak and/or damaged and prone to breakage.
Although rare, if any adverse reactions occur after your nail appointment: this may be a rash, redness, inflammation of any kind around the nails - please get in contact immediately as an assessment would need to be made as to what to do next.
Please do not try to remove your extensions yourself as this can cause major damage to your natural nails. If you wish to have your nails removed, please book an appointment to have them removed properly and safely.
Any kind of tinted moisturiser, sun creams, fake tan, etc. can discolour your extensions so wash your hands thoroughly after use or use gloves to protect your nails.
Your nail enhancements are flammable and are able to melt so should be kept away from sources of direct heat and flames.
Please treat your extensions with care until you get used to them. This can take a few days. Be careful of car doors, kitchen cabinets, switches, drawers, etc. as these are all things that you will have to adjust to using after having extensions. After a few days you will be used to using your hands in a different way and your nail extensions will feel as natural as your own.
JEWELS NOT TOOLS!
Please remember that your nail extensions are jewels not tools. They were not designed to be used as a screwdriver or can opener so please don’t use them as one!
When opting for nail extensions, please make sure your nail shape and length match your job and lifestyle. Nails that are too long for your activity level will place the stress point of your extension under too much pressure, which will result in breaks and damage to your natural nail.
